AHEPA was founded on 26th July, 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Order is a non-political and non-sectarian body and there are, today, over 1000 Chapters or local units throughout the world.

The Order of AHEPA was first established in Australia in Werris Creek, a country town of New South Wales, in 15 August, 1934. From this humble beginning, the Order has spread throughout Australia with Chapters operating in all States and the ACT.
