The AHEPAN of the Year Annual Award, the first ever in AHEPA, was the idea and incentive of Sister Ourania Arthur, President of Chapter Antigone No 8 of NSW, who donated the shield in memory of her daughter to be called the "Arete Arthur Memorial Shield 2001". Criteria for the award is based on the good standing, vision, dedication and contribution of the member to the advancement of the Order of AHEPA by serving well as an officer and committee member for a number of years. In addition, the member's initiative in promoting AHEPA in the Australian-Hellenic society and participation in major projects AHEPA features prominently and acknowledged Nationally and Internationally. Every state submitted nominations to the Supreme Lodge for the final selection. This year nine such nominations were received and the recipient of the award was Brother Tasha Vanos for his long standing contribution to AHEPA in all levels and the Olympic Tribute in Sydney 2000. The Costa and Olive Colligas Memorial Shield is awarded on membership achievement. This year this was awarded to Chapter Anatole No 7 New South Wales and received by Brother J Kallimanis The Tasha Vanos Incentive Shield is awarded on membership. This year is was awarded to Chapter Hellas No 1 Queensland and received by Bro M Nicoletatos. |
