OLYMPIC GAMES NEWS
Basil
Zempilas, son of Tony and Jessie Zempilas has been selected by
Channel 7 to cover sporting events. Tony and Jessie, both founding
members of AHEPA WA, are in Greece for the Olympic Games
This is an honour for AHEPA Western Australia.
COMMUNITY NEWS
Basil also excelled for all Greeks in Western Australia by presenting
himself on Channel 7 each night for one week leading up to the European
Soccer Cup Final, as a sporting interviewer for relaying news from the
Greek Soccer Team.
On the Cup
Final morning Basil organised the Channel 7 News team to be there in
Northbridge, where all of us gathered to watch the match on the big
screens where he interviewed many people and promoted Hellenism.
AHEPANS AND THE COMMUNITY
At
the Hellenic Community of WA elections held in April 2004,Brother
Michael C Manifis PSP was elected as a Trustee of the Community for four
years and also made Chairperson of the Hellenic Community Aged Care, and
Board Member of the St Andrews Greek School. This is a very important
issue for AHEPA.
