The AHEPA FOUNDATION Incorporation held a Dinner Dance and Presentation Night on Friday 2nd March at the Grand Roxy, Brighton Le Sands Sydney to present the 2nd cheque of $20,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital, St Leonards.

To receive the cheque was Ms Mary Bonner, General Manager of Royal North Shore Hospital, representing the Minister for Health, John Hatzistergos.  Other official guests were Dr Michelle Jack, Head Juvenile Diabetologist RNSH,  and her husband David, the Nurse Educator Yvonne Wong and her partner, Mr Evangelos Athanassiou representing the Consul General of Greece, the Manager of the Laiki Bank Mr Michaelis and Mrs Michaelis, 2 other members of the Laiki Bank, 3 guests from the Bank of Cyprus, who also donated a Television set for the raffle,  the Chairman of the Ethnic Communities Council of NSW Jack Passaris and Mrs Passaris, Mr Peter El-Khouri representing the Leader of the Opposition Peter Debnam, the National President of AHEPA Australasia Anthony Georgiadis, the State President of AHEPA NSW & NZ Nick Karageorgiou and Mrs Karageorgiou and the President of the District Lodge of NSW & NZ Mrs Melpo Kaimassidis.

It was a very successful and enjoyable evening, AHEPA was highly praised for its contributions to the community and in particular to this worthy cause.

The Athanasis Yenibis Foundation also presented a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Centre for $10,000.00.  Arthur Yenibis is the greatest benefactor of AHEPA, he left AHEPA $100,000.00 in his will which was used to make the final payment of AHEPA Hall in Regent Street, (1981), and left Trustees in his estate (from AHEPA) to make yearly donations to worthwhile charities etc.

It is anticipated that the final $20,000 cheque will be presented at the National Convention in Sydney in October when all states’ representatives will be in attendance.

We are still fundraising for this National Project.

All donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
